Current Exhibit: Painted Cloth: Fashion and Ritual in Colonial Latin America. Stop by and take in the golden brocades and luxurious fabrics depicted in Spanish American art of the 1700’s. This exhibit addresses the social roles of textiles, and the intersection of old-world European couture and a new world of indigenous textiles. See the rich visual representations in different media produced in Bolivia, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela of elegant garments and explore their meaning.
